Hi,
My parents got their second Re-entry Permit approved (applied through Application I-131) in first week of Jan 2008. This rentry permit is valid for 2 years (i.e. till Jan 2010). They had applied for the second Re-entry Permit on 16th Feb 2007. And after applying it they left 19th Feb 2007.
They are planning to return to US in Jan 2010 before the Re-entry Permit expiration. I read on this and other forums that with Re-entry Permit a US resident can live outside for more than 1 year and less than 2 years.
In my parent's case, when they will return back to US in Jan 2010, they will already have spend 3 years outside US.
I was concerned that the 2 year stay limit will be counted from the day my parents left US or the day when the Re-entry Permit got approved?
Secondly, Is there any limit on number of times a Re-Entry Permit can be applied?

Just to be contrarian, I think the recent H1-B and L-1 fee increase is an opportunity. Instead of playing a victim of legislative abuse, we should come out batting with an offense. We should get businesses to lobby for us. We should get congress people educated about the unfairness. We should not say the fee is wrong, because these are after all elected officials and they will not jeopardize their election prospects by going against this measure. So we should say ok take this fee but then provide us with administrative fixes that we want.

Yes I did send a copy of I-485. I also sent a copy of her previous approved AP.

Hello friends,
I am on L1B and working in US for last 3 1/2 years. My L1 visa will expire in Jun 2011. In between another company is ready to sponsor H1B for me and it will file it in April 2010. So here are my questions.
1. From when i can start working with new company on H1 ? From Jun 2010 (after getting H1 approval) or will have to wait till Oct 2010 ?
2. What will be the duration of my new H1B visa, considering i already used 4 years of my L1 ? Is it 6 years or only 2 years ?

USCIS had been given strict guidelines to process all cases within a six month timeframe depending on the type of the case. But many cases have come to light which are not seeing the light of the day.
How about filing our taxes on April 16, but not on April 15.
What is the relationship between the above two? You will get your return back if its postmarked past the deadline.

Yes I have known people done for H1 and H4 both. My friend who was fron MP usually get his H1 from Mumbai. But Last year he got his H1 stamped from Delhi just because he wants to go to Honeymoon there. Hope this helps.
